Spiral cake

Spiral after spiral it goes… chocolate… cream…

    Sponge cake:

  • 10 eggs
  • 10 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons powdered cocoa
  • 1 baking powder
    Cream filling:

  • 500 ml whipped cream
  • 2 cream stabilizers

  • 200 g dark chocolate
  • white chocolate

Cooking steps

Recipe direction 1
Separate egg yolks from egg whites and make a firm foam out of the egg whites.
Mix the egg yolks with sugar, nice and evenly.
Mix flour, baking powder, and cocoa and then add these to the egg yolk mixture and mix this well so the ingredients combine thoroughly.
In the end, stir in by hand slowly the egg white foam.
Take half of the mixture and put it in another bowl (because you need to make 2 layers).
Put the mixture into a big baking pan (the best is the one you get with the stove) that you covered with baking paper.
Bake this at 180°C for about 15 minutes. Repeat the same with the other part of the mixture.
When the sponge cake layers are done, remove the paper and, while they're still warm, form a roll out of them and leave it to cool.
Recipe direction 2
Cut both of the layers of sponge cake so you get stripes, depending on the baking pan, you get stripes ca 15 cm wide/30 cm long.
Recipe direction 3
Cream filling
Whip the cream by adding the 2 packages of the cream stabilizers.
Recipe direction 4
Cover the first strip of the sponge cake layer with the prepared cream filling, wrap it into a roll from the longer side so you get a spiral, put it vertically onto the serving tray (looks like a tower) and now it should be about 15 cm tall. Cover the rest of the sponge cake layers with the cream filling and wrap them around the middle part until you don't have any stripes left. From the cream filling you have left, fill the holes that you find at the top of the cake.
Recipe direction 5
Put this into the fridge for about 1 or 2 hours until it hardens.
Recipe direction 3
Melt the dark chocolate, either in the microwave or over hot steam. Cover the edges of the spiral with this.
